Pride 2006

Watch the video
This year for the first time I actually marched in the New York City pride parade. For so many years just a bystander...not anymore. I got there early and no one was around. Rick was there, passing time. All of a sudden the street filled with young people from the Center's youth program. They had such an energy and it didn't let up, even when it rained on us. I overheard one kid talking about his first pride at 13. The parade was much shorter then - as we waited for 2 hours to join the march. 19 years old and already a pride veteran. At 11th street Sunil and Leo waved from the scaffolding outside of Paul's apartment. I went up to join them. It was a great time, yelling down at the parade and getting people to throw goodies up. Our friend shouted down to two guys in the street and invited them up. As i drank more, the photos lost focus. And so the parade passes by....
