It was standing room only at the monthly meeting of community board 1 in Tribeca. Fox, News Channel 2, and MNN were on hand to cover the meeting that addressed the issue of the upcoming 9/11 terror suspect trials that are to be held at the Moynihan courthouse in downtown Manhattan. The executive committee passed a resolution requesting that the U.S. Attorney General conduct due diligence to consider other sites in the Southern District, among them Governors Island, West Point and other military bases in Newburgh and on Staten Island. Several residents made impassioned statements on the impact that a 'lock down' would have on local residents, schoolchildren and businesses with several recalling vividly the militarized situation that followed the attack in 2001.
