There is no sleeping weekday mornings in this neighborhood. Every day around 9:30 am the kids start to march from the settlement house on Amsterdam eastward toward Central Park, chanting as they march.

Last night as I biked back home I stopped by the Highline. It was my second brief visit and the place is really busy on a cool summer evening, but also very relaxing.

Biking down the Hudson on a summer evening south of the boat basin you will hear the strains of an old tango and there along the bank they dance into the evening.

Since the fireworks moved to the west side this year in honor of Henry Hudson's 400th anniversary of finding a river there was not the view an east side party would normally have. The white flare is from the illegal rockets going up in the neighborhood.

Finally an absolutely beautiful day in NYC with an equally perfect evening. A rooftop party in the East Village. Looking out to at least a dozen other parties on other rooftops.
