ho

After a long day recording characters for a short mockumentary in Greenpoint and Williamsburg I walk down this street in Astoria to the last appointment. It goes really well.

The view from Manhattan Avenue looking south from 105th Street on the second day of the blizzard of December 2010. For more pictures look you know where.

blow

So wonderful to be back home as the white stuff piles up outside - eventually 20 inches of snowfall is reported for Central Park, though with the high winds many drifts go higher.

trip

On the way to a holiday 'funtasy' party in our nation's capitol with a good friend. Whenever you see such a Neo-Egyptian temple you immediately think of the Masons - and you are right!

fĂȘte

All is ready before the annual holiday party at 'the tenement.' You will note many new wine glasses, every single one of which was used and miraculously not broken - I even found one in the bathroom the following day! But the drink that won the evening was cololito - two versions of which arrived thanks to Puerto Rican guests who took the trouble to mix some southern happiness for the rest of us. The kasha holiday salad was a miserable failure - tip for holiday entertainers, don't try new recipes at the last minute. The caponatina on the other hand was a raging success. Not in this photo - the vegetarian paella, Cuban black beans and herb-roasted root vegetable medley.
