Even though it's partly cloudy with a chance of thundershowers, I decide to ride my bike down to teach a camera class at MNN. As luck would have it, the rain comes while I am inside. It's all clear by the time I emerge, ready to bike on down to Soho and the Village for other engagements this evening.

The view for an afternoon beer at the Water Taxi beach on Governors Island after having visited the artists at the Open Studio. The mayor had issued a heat advisory and it was 90 degrees F at 11 am, well over 100 by the afternoon. We biked two loops around the island - one counter and one clockwise before taking the ferry back to Manhattan.

flower power

On the happy return of my Canon Elph point and shoot camera I went directly to Riverside Park and looked for these big guys that I had spotted on the bike path two days earlier with no camera except my phone. Today they are pointing in the opposite direction and I am posting two photos so you can get a sense of how big these flowers are.

I really like the composition of this picture for some reason, even though it was quite random and absolutely haphazard in the capture. Cousin David had wanted me to meet the Long Island Cohens (and I had heard so much about them). It was a very pleasant evening.

The view from Ozkan and Tom's place, my neighbors were kind enough to invite me to dinner on the first evening of this hot new month. Their place is right on the river near me, a wonderful old New York City westside apartment.
