La Rentrée
West Chelsea is again abuzz, as September brings a new slate of shows opening in the galleries. Add to that some fashion week parties in the local boutiques and you have a lovely scene. Of course it isn't really back to normal as the kids have had almost the entire week off from school in NYC - L'Shana Tova!

On Labor Day a walk along a familiar path in the Catskills. The corn is very high and the alfafa is such a rich green in the fields.

Book Bag Give-Away at Fortune Academy
On Saturday, August 28th, book bags full of school supplies were distributed free of charge to low-income residents of West Harlem and surrounding neighborhoods at the Fortune Academy on Riverside Drive and 140th Street. Inmates at the Green Haven correctional facility had pooled money they earned while incarcerated to pay for the book bags as a way of giving back to a community in need. Glen Martin explains the work of the Fortune Society in helping formerly incarcerated people reintegrate into the communities they used to live. For more information go to Fortune Society.
